Tina became interested in physical therapy after several of her own sports-related injuries. Tina played Division I volleyball at Butler University for three years, where she pursued a Biology degree. She started work at the NovaCare Outpatient Rehabilitation Center instructing patients in exercise progression and aquatic therapy. Tina left Butler after injuries that led to two different shoulder surgeries and much rehabilitation and entered Andrews University’s physical therapy program where she finished her studies while working as a lab assistant for Gross Anatomy, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, and Modalities. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Anatomy and Physiology. As a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honors society at Andrews, she received her Masters in Physical Therapy in 1999.
Tina participated in clinical rotations at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis for acute care, Mary Freebed Hospital in Grand Rapids for inpatient neuro rehab, and at St. Helena Hospital and K Valley Orthopedics P.C., both outpatient orthopedic clinics.
Tina came to K Valley Orthopedics P.C. in 1999, and began managing the physical therapy department in 2001. She has professional interest in foot orthotics, biomechanics, and pilates. She is pursuing certification in manual therapy through the North American Institute of Manual Therapy. An APTA member since 1996, she enjoys working with patients in the aquatics center and lectures to a variety of community organizations including Pace Corps Fitness Group, Andrews University Physical Therapy classes, and Gazelle marathon training groups (including gait analysis, strengthening and stretching).
Tina is also involved, outside of KVO, in bible studies and medical mission trips to El Salvador. She is still very active in sports and loves to travel. Living in Richland, she is married with 2 stepdaughters and one son.
