Dr. Michael Kasten is a native of Kalamazoo. He graduated from the University of California, Berkley in 1983. Dr. Kasten received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan in 1987. He completed his specialty residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco in 1992 and he completed his Fellowship in Spinal Disorders in 1993 from the University of Colorado, Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Kasten has been practicing Orthopedic Surgery in the Kalamazoo area since 1993. He co-authored a variety of publications and is extremely active in research studies. Dr. Kasten presents multiple lectures annually and teaches the latest surgical techniques to many physicians throughout the country. Dr. Kasten's practice is limited to injuries and deformities of the spine in pediatric and adult patients, and he specializes in spine revision surgery.

Dr. Kasten joined HealthCare Midwest in June 2003.
