Dr. James T. VanHuysen is a graduate of Portage Northern High School in Portage, Michigan. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997 with a major in physical education and exercise science. Dr. VanHuysen earned his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan in 2003. He completed his family medicine residency at MSU/Sparrow Hospital in 2006. Dr. VanHuysen completed an MSU Sports Medicine Fellowship in 2007. He was then awarded Certified Additional Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine.
He presently serves as team physician at Harper Creek High School and for the Branch Gymnastics Club. While in fellowship at MSU, he served as team physician for MSU Men’s soccer, MSU Women’s Volleyball, MSU Wrestling, MSU Men’s and Women’s Track and MSU Baseball. He is also a Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine for MSUCOM.
Dr. VanHuysen is a Board Certified Family Physician and has a special interest in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine, and the Michigan Osteopathic Association.
