James B. Babel, MD, FACS, graduated in 1979 from Wayne State University. He finished his residency in general surgery through Southwest Michigan Area Health Education Center in Kalamazoo in 1984, and was board certified in 1985 and recertified in 1995 and again in 2005. In August of 1984, he joined General and Vascular Surgery, PC where he specialized in general and laparoscopic surgery. Including general surgery, Dr. Babel specializes in laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication for GERD, carpal tunnel release, neck, laparoscopic abdominal and bowel surgery.

Dr. Babel joined HealthCare Midwest in 2008 as part of General & Bariatric Surgery.
