Dale G. Moore, CRNA

HealthCare Midwest Ambulatory Surgery Center began providing its own anesthesia in August of 1999 with the hiring of Dale G. Moore, CRNA. Dale is a native of Mishawaka, Indiana, and has lived in Michigan since 1992. Dale is a graduate of Bethel College in Mishawaka, The University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and the Minneapolis Veteran's Administration Medical Center School of Anesthesia in Minneapolis, MN. Dale has been a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist since 1992.

Dale is responsible for the administration of all anesthesias at the HealthCare Midwest Ambulatory Surgery Center including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (sedation). Dale works with all HealthCare Midwest surgeons as well as non-HealthCare Midwest surgeons including plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, and podiatrists. Dale has a special interest in regional anesthesia, or nerve blocks for surgical anesthesia. With the advent of newer local anesthetics, nerve blocks can be performed that keep an arm or ankle numb for 12 hours or more after surgery. Therefore, procedures that were traditionally performed in the hospital for pain control issues are now being performed in the outpatient setting and the patient is sent home with a prescription for pain medicine. Patients are generally very nervous about receiving a general anesthetic and the offer of a nerve block is very appealing. Dale also has a special interest in pediatric anesthesia. HealthCare Midwest surgeons perform many surgeries on pediatric patients at the Ambulatory Surgery Center from Ear, Nose, Throat, Head & Neck Surgery Care to Urology to Eye Muscle Surgery.

Dale says when dealing with pediatric patients you are also dealing with the anxious parents. Many of the pediatric patients are sedated with oral medication before going to the operating room thus preventing the separation anxiety and crying that is often experienced. Most of the parents and pediatric patients have a good experience and leave totally satisfied. Dale says that he works with the "cream of the crop" when it comes to surgeons. "All of the surgeons that work at HealthCare Midwest Ambulatory Surgery Center are the best in their field in Kalamazoo and in many cases in the entire region."
